Detlef was born in Wismar, Germany. He went on to sit his University entrance examination in 1978 at a Grammar School in Zerbst (Saxony-Anhalt). Studying Dentistry at Olomouc University (Czech Republic) between 1978 and 1983, Detlef received his licence to practice from Görlitz (Saxony) in 1983.

Between 1983 and 1989, Detlef worked as a Dentist at a Dental Clinic in Görlitz. In 1989, he set up a private practice at Biedenkopf (Hessen) and practiced there until the end of 2004. Moving to England in 2005, Detlef worked as an Associate at White Cross Dental Care, Bristol.

In 2006, Detlef became the Principal Dentist and Owner of Alaska House Dental Practice, Blandford Forum.

Detlef regularly attends continuing education courses to deliver his patients with the latest dental treatment and technology from around the world. He has received further training in: dental implant treatment, periodontics, laser dentistry and functional analyses. His gentle and caring nature helps ease patient nerves and will make you feel right at home.

Detlef is a member of the British Dental Association, the Association of Dental Implantology und the Royal Society of Medicine.

When Dr. Schulz is not caring for his patients, he loves spending time with his wife and young daughter. He also enjoys sailing and diving.
